certificate2

Our Summer Biofuel Workshop (July 31st to August 1st) supported by NSF was successfully finished.

We had two UW undergraduate students and eight local high school students this year.

Shu-Ching won SIRE-REU5 Award

newsOur undergraduate student, Shu-Ching Yang, won the SIRE-REU5 award.

SIRE-REU: Conversion of Monosaccharides and Polysaccharides to Furan-Based Precursors for Hydrocarbon Fuels

This project team will study the process of converting lignocellulose to drop-in biofuels in the PI’s lab.  The proposed research for the REU student involves elucidating the reaction mechanisms of biomass cellulose and hemicellulose during the Hydrolysis-Dehydration Aldol Condensation (HDA) process using monosaccharides and polysaccharides as model compounds.

Congratulation Shu-Ching!
